This side of the park had a trail that we were suppose to stay on but our leader happened to get us off. Any way we had a beautiful walk. The rocks here were a dark red. Cindy and I sat down for a rest and this rock was ice cold to sit on even though it was really hot out.

What we were walking on was a wash. You wouldn't want to be here in a rain.

How these cactus survive in the toughest growing conditions.

As you can see they grow right out of a rock. Isn't it amazing how they get moisture.

More of the red rock. There was a little lizard of some kind Matt took a picture of. He is in photography in college so was enjoying BoPa's camera.

We really had a great time hiking even if we were on forbidden ground. Very interesting how the water and the earth piled up rocks and they sit there.

BoPa always bringing up the rear as he has such an inquisitive mind. Always off another direction trying to figure something out.
