This beach was Crescent Beach. This beach was unbelievable, as there were a lot of the bigger starfish on the shore. If you get there as the surf has gone out and before the gulls and shore birds get to them you are lucky. Anyway here I walked the beach with an 80-year-old lady who was looking for a starfish and hadn't found any. I told her if she hadn't found any when she was ready to leave I would share with her, So she took two for her beach bowl by her TV. Note the little beachcomber that found his breakfast. |

We drove a few miles down the road to Fort Mateanzas. These live oaks were on the grounds there. I love these massive trees. A lot of them have ferns growing on their trunk and branches. They spread out and are very gnarled. There was a ferry or pontoon boat to take you to the island. (Rattlesnake Island) |

These pictures were taken at Fort Augustine an old Spanish fort. This was very interesting. The slabs with mattresses on were the bunks of the soldiers. The young man posing as a soldier is a college student. We were told that the color of the hat determined the country they were fighting from . |

What I'm looking at is a canon ball furnace. They would heat the balls up before they shot them, give new meaning to great ball of fire. |

The indentations in the wall are where they were hit by canon balls and had been repaired. These forts have a lot of history behind them. Its amazing how are country has been defended. Loved the silos on the corners of the fort. A photographers dream! |

Looking over the wall of the fort we saw this towering wooden cross. Across the bay you could see a lighthouse. These pictures were taken from the opposite side. Loved the picture of the boat with the bridge in background. As you see the darker beach that is St Augustine. Really loved this beach. Wish I were still there. The beach consisted of millions of small shells. The first thing I found on this beach was a huge starfish. These were different than the ones I found in Pensacola. This was a starfish! The shells here were great. Very colorful. Note the shrimp boat in the distance and you will see all the free loaders behind it looking for a hand out. The pelicans know where the handouts are. |

This dome is the same shot. The first has the pigeon on top. Then Lenny removed the bird. The third one he added gray tones to it. Love this one. |

This picture is shot of the beach and the second one is the negative image. The second one is the same thing, Think this makes a very interesting effect. |
