This is another state park close by this one. We find the state parks worth seeing. If you are camping in one you don,t have to pay to go in for the day. Some campers we talked to here said it was worth while to see. |

It is truly awesome how these have been formed over a million years. It is a striking result of the process of erosion. The theory is that these were thrown from a volcano near Albuquerque. They were a flat sheet of reddish lava that has been chiseled by water borne abrasives to form the likeness of a city with streets and buildings. We walked the streets between the rocks and of course climbed and some. We are amazed at all there is to see in the US. |

The large spikes are from the tree yucca, which are abundant. I would love to see when they bloom. One of these spikes had blown over on the path and looking at it was like a tree. It was just like a branch The City of Rocks is truly a geological wonder. They were born 30million years ago from a volcano. |

The City of Rocks is truly a geological wonder. Born some 30 million years ago from a volcano that was 1,000 times greater than Mt. St. Helen. |

Next to the park is Table Mountain the perfect example of a mesa. The top looks as level as if it had been laid out with a level. |

These formations suggest giant chairs, prehistoric monsters, or other creatures of imagination. |

This park is located on the slope of Little Florida Mountain. Just down the road is Canyon Springs State Park. We decided to drive over there to check it out, These mountains were very rugged but beautiful. It always amazes me to see the vegetation that survives on the mountain. Tree growing on the side of the picture on the right. Lenny standing in awe of these massive giants. |

The hole through the mountain in the picture on the left. Amazing! The flock of birds are whooping cranes going over camp. |

Back of our camper we have a little sort of patio area. I put bird feed out there and then sit in my chair and enjoy the birds. It is really funny how they al appear. Today saw quail, roadrunner cactus wren, and the cardinal like bird. |
