Sam Houston Jones State Park Lake Charles, Louisiana Feb 15-17 |

This campground was located on a lake-bayou. We stayed here only 2 nights as it was being filled up due to the Marti Gras parade here. Its interesting how crazy the people down here are about Marti Gras. They have wreaths hanging on their doors like we have at Christmas. Purple, yellow and green. |

Have always wanted to see an alligator in the wild. Lenny was out exploring and called me "how long will it take you to get here?" "I see an alligator in the swamp floating on a pad". Didn't take me long. He was only about 4 years. Old but big enough for me. Some little kid had thrown bread down to him but he did not eat it. Can cross that off the bucket list. |

The swamp is kind of ugly to look at first but does have beauty. The trees fascinate me. Some of the water fowl here. A goose sitting on here nest. |

Up and down the river. We were walking on the levee. Lots of levees here. |

Here is proof that Judy can walk and talk on the phone at the same time! The Mosquito at this park were really bad, made me feel like I was back in Minnesota. |
